I try to do my paintings with different perspectives. I've done several head-on shots in paintings but only a couple like this one. This painting shows 8 horses from behind at about 3 jumps out of the gate. It takes place at the historic Bay Meadows racetrack. The start of the race is probably the most crucial time. It's important to get the horse out on all 4 feet and into to the race.
