I had planned on doing a painting of Justify if he won the Triple Crown, but when I saw Steve Heuertz's photograph of his last stride coming to the wire, I just had to get started on the painting even before the Belmont was run. Even if he hadn't won the Belmont, he was still a great horse  and deserved to be immortalized on canvas. 

The Preakness was run on a very sloppy track and it was very foggy. I dulled the background, the people, and the rival horses, and I painted Justify as if the sun was shining to make him really stand out on the canvas. 

I've done editions of signed and numbered canvas prints in four sizes.

    I was very excited to purchase Tom Chapman's interpretation of the famous moment when Justify leaped over the Pimlico track in the Preakness. There is fine detail in the giclee and it truly brings a historic moment in racing to life. I ordered the frame as well, and it is a very high quality frame which allowed for immediate hanging on the wall -- no waiting for it to come back from the framers! The giclee arrived in extremely good packaging that would survive any freight company. If you are a racing fan or a horse lover, this is a treasure that will draw the eye for a lifetime.

    This makes 4 , two paintings and two prints I have purchased from Tom. Superb master of the arts. The real life he projects into his subjects. I swear that I can hear the thunder of the horses hooves. My hat’s off to you Tom.
