Getting the Kinks Out, Bay Meadows Jockeys' Room, 11 x 14" oil
This is a painting that shows 2 jockeys in whirlpools in the jockeys' room. This was a large part of my life while I was riding. I'd get in the whirlpool until I got a good sweat going, then go into the sauna and really get serious about weight loss. This is an actual scene in the Bay Meadows jockeys room. The jockeys are Vann Belvoir and David Patton.
To appreciate this painting, you really need to see it up close. The sign has several rules, some funny, some stupid, and some that just go contrary to what is happening in the scene. For example, one rule is "No eating". Jockeys are in the pool to loosen up and lose weight so they wouldn't be eating anyway. I also included a hamburger on the table on the left.
I also included a Daily Racing Form being held by one jockey. The other is holding a program with an image I was commissioned to do by Bay Meadows on the front cover. These were a real challenge to do.
Size: 11 x 14", comes framed.
