Arrogate arrived on my radar when he won the Traver's Stakes at Saratoga in the summer of 2016. He then went on to win the Breeders' Cup Classic against California Chrome ten weeks later. Both Arrogate and California Chrome competed in the Inaugural running of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes at Gulfstream Park on January 12, 2017. Arrogate proved why he was voted the 2016 Longines World's Best Racehorse by taking the lead around the far turn and winning by daylight, while also setting a new track record of 1:46:40 at 1 1/8th miles.
