Few birds are as striking as the Indigo Bunting. The brilliant blue of the male seems to glow in the sunlight, while the soft earth tones of the female provide a beautiful contrast. Together, they create one of nature's most colorful and elegant pairings.

When I painted this piece, I wanted to capture not only the vivid colors of these beautiful songbirds, but also the quiet moment they shared together. Sometimes the simplest scenes in nature are the most rewarding to paint.
