Citation

1948 Triple Crown Winner & Racing's First Thoroughbred Millionaire

Few horses have left a mark on Thoroughbred racing like Citation. In 1948, he swept the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes to become the eighth winner of the Triple Crown. He later made history again by becoming the first Thoroughbred to earn more than one million dollars, a remarkable achievement at a time when racing purses were only a fraction of what they are today.

I've always admired Citation for his combination of speed, consistency, and determination. Champions come along every few years, but horses that change the sport are much rarer. Citation was one of those horses, and I wanted this portrait to capture the quiet confidence and presence of a true racing legend.

I have signed and numbered limited edition giclée canvas prints available in several sizes. Each print is faithfully reproduced on premium canvas and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

14 x 11" 50 prints

20 x 16" 30 prints

30 x 24" 20 prints (this is the size of the original oil painting)
