As a Montana native, it's always a pleasure to return home, and this painting brings back memories of one of those unforgettable moments in Glacier National Park.
This painting was inspired by a trip back home. While driving on the Going to the Sun Road through the Park, we spotted a magnificent grizzly bear along the highway. As we approached, he quietly disappeared into a stand of aspens, leaving us with only a brief glimpse of one of the West's most iconic animals.
That moment stayed with me long after I returned home. I wanted to capture not only the size and power of the grizzly, but also the quiet confidence these remarkable animals possess in their natural surroundings. The soft, misty background and the bear's backward glance create the feeling that you've just crossed paths with him in the Montana wilderness.
